Congressman Kim Votes to Deliver Funds for New Jersey, Additional Help for Small Businesses

Statement

Today, Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03) voted to pass H.R. 925, the Updated Heroes Act, which would provide critical funds to help put an end to the coronavirus crisis and mitigate its economic impact. Today's vote comes more than four months since Congressman Kim voted to pass the Heroes Act, which has not been taken up by the Senate for a vote.

"It's been almost seven months since this crisis began, and the people in Burlington and Ocean Counties deserve a Congress that is working to meet the moment; this bill does exactly that and delivers for New Jersey," said Congressman Kim. "We can deliver funds and supplies to help put an end to the pandemic, support to help our small businesses keep their doors open and save good-paying jobs for people in our community. This is now the second time in five months I've voted for a bold package that would deliver just that. I hope that the Senate steps up to the plate and finishes the job in serving and delivering for the American people."

If enacted, Ocean County would receive more than $163 million, and Burlington County would receive more than $120 million in funds. In addition, every municipality in the Third District would be eligible to receive funds to help offset revenue losses from the Coronavirus crisis. For example: Toms River would receive more than $24 million, Evesham more than $10 million, Mount Laurel more than $9 million, Willingboro more than $7 million, Lacey more than $6 million, Barnegat more than $5 million, and Bordentown more than $3 million.

In addition, the Updated Heroes Act would provide funding for small businesses through a second round of the Paycheck Protection Program, which Congressman Kim has repeatedly advocated for. It would also provide additional funding for increased testing and other public health measures to put an end to the coronavirus crisis.

Congressman Kim is a member of the bipartisan House Select Committee on the Coronavirus Crisis, where he serves as one of twelve members of the House tasked with conducting oversight over programs aimed at ending the Coronavirus pandemic and helping address the economic impact it's having on the American people. Congressman Kim is also a member of the House Armed Services Committee and the House Committee on Small Business.
